En 2003, Corinne ROCHET et Nicholas PETTIT fondent la Cie Utilité Publique à Lausanne (Suisse) aujourd'hui nommée la PETTIT*ROCHET Cie. Ils sont au bénéfice d'une CONVENTION DE SUBVENTION DE L’ETAT DE VAUD de durée déterminée pour les années 2018-2019-2020. En 2006, ils sont lauréats du CONCOURS EUROPÉEN DE CHORÉGRAPHIE AÉROWAWES. En 2007, ils reçoivent le PRIX DE L'ÉVEIL remis par la FONDATION VAUDOISE POUR LA CULTURE. En 2024, Ils reçoivent une bourse de la FONDATION GIVEL pour la construction d’une théorie et pratique chorégraphique de l’eau dans le cadre du projet « La Peau de l’eau » ainsi que le PRIX SUISSE DES ARTS DE LA SCÈNE par l'OFFICE FEDERAL DE LA CULTURE pour leur travail au sein de la MARCHEPIED Cie.
Chorégraphes, danseur.euse et pédagogues, ils créent, à travers leurs pièces, un univers à la fois graphique et poétique. Depuis 2020, Corinne ROCHET et Nicholas PETTIT, placent au centre de leur recherche : la matière « eau » comme inducteur constitutif, interprétatif et créatif. Tout au long de l’histoire de l’art, le thème de l’eau est singulièrement présent et reste actuel. Il interpelle, tant notre conscience collective que nos sensibilités personnelles, et nous invite à embrasser un mouvement culturel engagé d’un point de vue écologique, philosophique, politique ou social. L’eau est la condition nécessaire à la vie. Elle est source de vie dans toutes civilisations, dans toutes les religions et tous les mythes. D’abord, entrer dans et par la matière, matière qui devient matériau. Faire de ce matériau, une expérience physique, kinesthésique qui déclenche des sensations, des émotions, des affects. A l’origine de cette démarche se trouve une recherche personnelle : un vécu d’interprète et de chorégraphe, la recherche d’une expérience de danse spécifique et de moments de grâce. Leur écriture se développe dans un flux : entre fluidité et épaisseur des gestes, entre ancrage et débordement. Leurs pièces sont conçues comme des espaces de jeu, invitant le public à y pénétrer, le laissant libre de faire sa propre recherche de sens et de satisfaire son besoin d’abstraction.
En 2003, Corinne ROCHET et Nicholas PETTIT signent J’assume. En 2005, Blink est présenté en première dans le cadre du Festival des Printemps de Sévelin à Lausanne. En 2004, ils créent Roberto, solo commandé dans le cadre du Festival – Zücher Theaterspektakel. Durant la même année, ils signeront Monique solo et le quintet The Slow motion Expérience. En 2006, ils signent FIZZ, duo avec lequel ils seront lauréats du CONCOURS EUROPÉEN DE CHORÉGRAPHIE AÉROWAWES. Cette nomination leur permet de faire découvrir leur travail au niveau international. En 2007, ils créent Alright Love et en 2009 une série chorégraphique, de 3 épisodes de 35’, intitulée M.E.S.T. Celle-ci sera présentée en première dans le cadre du Festival International de Lausanne. En 2010, Corinne ROCHET est invitée par Cathy Marston directrice du Bern : Ballett – Compagnie de danse du Stadttheater Bern pour la création de la pièce chorégraphique, Des fois, je … Comment dire … et en 2011, la compagnie présente deux nouvelles créations Transitland, trio présenté en première au Théâtre Sévelin 36 ainsi que Journal d’Elle, solo présenté dans le cadre de la tournée suisse de Tanzfaktor Interregio 2011. En 2012, ils signent Hakama, pièce présentée en première au Théâtre de l’Octogone. En 2013, ils créent leur première pièce à destination du jeune public Fontaine, je boirai de ton eau présentée au Petit Théâtre à Lausanne. En 2014, STRESS BIOLOGY est présentée en première et réunit 18 danseur·ses sur la scène de l’Arsenic – Centre d’art scénique contemporain à Lausanne. Pour leur création 2015, Corinne ROCHET et Nicholas PETTIT font le choix du duo et remontent ensemble sur la grande scène de l’Arsenic avec MORPHOSES. En 2017, ils présenteront à l’Arsenic, KALEOS, pièce pour 4 danseuses longilignes qui place le public au cœur de l’objet chorégraphique. En 2019, ils présentent BENDERs au Théâtre de l’Octogone, pièce pour 4 interprètes-acousticiens alliant musique ou plus particulièrement circuit-bending et la danse contemporaine. En 2020, programmé par le Théâtre Sévelin 36, c’est un duo LA BRASSE DES PAPILLONS qui les réunit et les plonge au coeur de la piscine de Montétan à Lausanne. En 2020, Corinne ROCHET et Nicholas PETTIT commence un travail de recherche sur la matière "eau" comme élément constitutif, interprétatif et créatif.
Leurs pièces sont présentées en SUISSE, en FRANCE, en ANGLETERRE, en RUSSIE, en ITALIE, en IRLANDE, en ROUMANIE au PORTUGAL.
En 2001, pour pallier le manque de formation en danse contemporaine en Suisse, ils s’engagent dans Le MARCHEPIED, aujourd’hui devenu la MARCHEPIED Cie – www.marchepied.ch, compagnie tremplin professionnel sur 6 mois, à plein temps, avec, pour les danseur·ses fraîchement sorti·es de formation, une première rémunération.
Corinne ROCHET se forme en France auprès d’Anne-Marie Porras (Epsedance) et dans le cadre de la Cellule d’Insertion Professionnelle de Dominique Bagouet. Elle est titulaire depuis 1995 du Diplôme d’Etat d’enseignement en danse contemporaine. Nicholas PETTIT est titulaire d’un Bachelor of art du Laban Center de Londres.
Corinne ROCHET a été interprète pour de nombreux chorégraphes tels que Dominique Bagouet, Michel Kélémenis, Rui Horta, Guilherme Botelho, Philippe Saire (danseuse/ assistante), Nicole Seiler, Da Motus, Fabienne Berger. Nicholas PETTIT a travaillé auprès de Claude Brumachon, Daniel Larrieu, Jean Gaudin, Stéphanie Aubin, William Petit, Gaspard Burma, Nicole Seiler, Arthur Kuggeleyn, Philippe Saire (danseur/assistant) mais aussi avec différents metteurs en scène comme Pascal Francfort (danseur /comédien), Christian Egger, Jean Winiger (chorégraphe /danseur).
In 2003, Corinne ROCHET and Nicholas PETTIT founded the Cie Utilité Publique in Lausanne (Switzerland), now known as the PETTIT*ROCHET Cie. They benefit from a CONVENTION DE SUBVENTION DE L’ETAT DE VAUD for the years 2018-2019-2020. In 2006, they were awarded the EUROPEAN AEROWAWES CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION prize. In 2007, they received the PRIX DE L'ÉVEIL presented by the FONDATION VAUDOISE POUR LA CULTURE. In 2024, they received a grant from the FONDATION GIVEL for the development of a theory and practice of choreography focused on water as part of the project "La peau de l'eau," as well as the PRIX SUISSE DES ARTS DE LA SCÈNE from the OFFICE FEDERAL DE LA CULTURE for their work within the MARCHEPIED Cie.
As choreographers, dancers, and educators, they create, through their pieces, a universe that is both graphic and poetic. Since 2020, Corinne ROCHET and Nicholas PETTIT have centered their research on the material "water" as a constitutive, interpretative, and creative inducer. Throughout the history of art, the theme of water is particularly present and remains relevant. It speaks to both our collective consciousness and our personal sensibilities, inviting us to embrace a culturally engaged movement from ecological, philosophical, political, or social perspectives. Water is a necessary condition for life. It is a source of life in all civilizations, religions, and myths. First, it is about entering into and through the material, which becomes a medium. Making this medium a physical, kinesthetic experience that triggers sensations, emotions, and affects. At the origin of this approach is a personal search: a lived experience as an interpreter and choreographer, the pursuit of a specific dance experience and moments of grace. Their writing develops in a flow: between fluidity and thickness of gestures, between grounding and overflow. Their pieces are designed as play spaces, inviting the audience to enter, leaving them free to seek their own meaning and satisfy their need for abstraction.
In 2003, Corinne ROCHET and Nicholas PETTIT created "J’assume". In 2005, "Blink" premiered at the Festival des Printemps de Sévelin in Lausanne. In 2004, they created "Roberto", a solo commissioned for the Festival – Zücher Theaterspektakel. During the same year, they also created "Monique", a solo, and the quintet "The Slow Motion Experience". In 2006, they created "FIZZ", a duo with which they were winners of the EUROPEAN AEROWAWES CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION. This nomination allowed them to showcase their work at an international level. In 2007, they created "Alright Love", and in 2009 a choreographic series, consisting of 3 episodes of 35 minutes each, titled "M.E.S.T". This series premiered at the International Festival of Lausanne. In 2010, Corinne ROCHET was invited by Cathy Marston, director of Bern: Ballett – Dance Company of the Stadttheater Bern, to create the choreographic piece "Des fois, je… Comment dire…" In 2011, the company presented two new creations: "Transitland", a trio premiered at the Théâtre Sévelin 36, and "Journal d’Elle", a solo presented during the Swiss tour of Tanzfaktor Interregio 2011. In 2012, they created "Hakama", a piece that premiered at the Théâtre de l’Octogone. In 2013, they created their first piece for a young audience, "Fontaine, je boirai de ton eau", presented at the Petit Théâtre in Lausanne. In 2014, "STRESS BIOLOGY" premiered, featuring 18 dancers on the stage of Arsenic – Centre for Contemporary Performing Arts in Lausanne. For their 2015 creation, Corinne ROCHET and Nicholas PETTIT chose a duo format and returned together to the main stage of Arsenic with "MORPHOSES". In 2017, they presented "KALEOS" at Arsenic, a piece for four long-legged dancers that places the audience at the heart of the choreographic object. In 2019, they presented "BENDERs" at the Théâtre de l’Octogone, a piece for four performer-acoustic musicians that combines music, specifically circuit-bending, and contemporary dance. In 2020, programmed by the Théâtre Sévelin 36, a duo titled "LA BRASSE DES PAPILLONS" brought them together and immersed them in the Montétan swimming pool in Lausanne. In 2020, Corinne ROCHET and Nicholas PETTIT began research on the substance "water" as a constitutive, interpretative, and creative element.
Their pieces have been presented in SWITZERLAND, FRANCE, ENGLAND, RUSSIA, ITALY, IRELAND, ROMANIA, and PORTUGAL.
In 2001, to address the lack of contemporary dance training in Switzerland, they engaged with Le MARCHEPIED, which has since become the MARCHEPIED Cie – www.marchepied.ch, a professional springboard company offering a full-time, 6-month program for dancers freshly graduated from training, providing them with their first paycheck.
Corinne ROCHET trained in France with Anne-Marie Porras (Epsedance) and within the Professional Integration Cell of Dominique Bagouet. Since 1995, she has held the State Diploma in contemporary dance education. Nicholas PETTIT holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Laban Centre in London.
Corinne ROCHET has performed for numerous choreographers, including Dominique Bagouet, Michel Kélémenis, Rui Horta, Guilherme Botelho, Philippe Saire (dancer/assistant), Nicole Seiler, Da Motus, and Fabienne Berger.
